Application process

Thank you for your interest in this project! Just some quick notes before you submit an application. This is a story driven roleplay that will be conducted primarily via discord. It contains mature themes, and the age limit for rpers will be 18+. Although we have a story planned, the plot's outcome will be determined by the players themselves. Our goal is for the story to be fluid, and for character decisions to noticeably impact the world around them. In addition, we want to build a tight knit community of players who feel comfortable giving feedback to the admins, as well as collaborating to create story elements that align with every players goal for their characters.

The most common application for roleplay groups is to create a character, which becomes your application. As we seek to build a community, the application will be focused on the player. The questions will discuss your experience with roleplay, writing, characters, etc. and we will be accepting people that we will will fit in the community we'd like to build. Accepted players will then be creating their character/s to fill in the available slots we have!

Which players will take on what slots will me decided primarily by the mods.s. We want to allow a lot of freedom for players to make choices and build a character they truly connect with, whilst staying true to the existing lore.

We understand this may not suit the style of many people, and for that we apologise! Our focus, above all else, is creating a fun, casual and friendly atmosphere. We want to tell a story with our friends!

VISUAL APPLICATION

Our visual application is purposely simple! Of course, a fullbody reference is the expected norm, but we'd like for the visual application to be representative of your character as a whole. Keeping the base (border, textbox, etc.), we want the overall design of the app to portray your character, including the background, colours, and of course, the character. The art of your character should prioritize communicating information about them as a person, rather than necessarily being a visual reference.

 

You are not required to create a fullbody reference, and if the reference is unclear, please include a clear reference somewhere in your written application.

CHARACTER APPLICATION

ONLY RELEVANT TO CURRENT MEMBERS/PLAYERS, INCLUDING EVERYTHING BELOW.

basics

At least the following must be included:

  • Name:

  • Character epithet:

  • Nickname(s):

  • Age: (18-28):

  • DOB:

  • Gender + sex:

  • Nationality:

  • Ethnic background:

  • Height:

  • Weight:

LIFE SKILLS

You can have up to 3 skills. These must be relevant to your character's background. Examples include:

  • Farming

  • Martial arts

  • Educated (e.g. a degree)

  • First aid

  • Gymnastics

  • Cooking

  • Art

  • Debate

You are welcome to create whatever life skills suit your character, and ask the mods what would be allowed

STATS

There are 8 stat fields. Vitality, ability, faith, defense, resistance, charisma, knowledge and dexterity.

​VIT: Physical constitution (Base 50. Every point is +10VIT)

Attacking/casting

  • ABI: Weapon usage

  • FTH: Magic mastery / Faith and connection to god
     

Dodging and blocking

  • DEF: Defense and knowledge towards normal attacks

  • RES: Defense and knowledge towards magical attacks

 

Situational

  • CHR: Charisma and Persuasion

  • KNW: Knowledge (booksmart/streetsmart) and perception

  • DEX: Speed and stealth

You have 20 points to distribute amongst the 8 stats. You begin with a maximum of 5 points in a stat, with a minimum of 1 point. You may assign 0 points to a single stat field.

A score of 1 is the common average in that field. A score of 0 indicates a significant weakness. Scores above 1 indicate scaling aptitude in the field.

We prefer the written portion of your application to be on a google doc/slides/spreadsheet, carrd, website or other similar format!

PERSONALITY

We do require a balance of traits to be listed (e.g. at least 3 positive, 3 neutral, 3 negative), but you may elaborate on these however you like! Whether it's a description of each individual trait, or an explanation of their overall personality. We are looking to accept characters with a variety of personalities, so please focus on creating a balanced, unique character without falling too deeply into cliches/stereotypes.

HISTORY

Note: this story takes place in a world adjacent to our own, in the near future. imagine a version of our world, but where magic is possible through loyalty to a specific god, and through worshipping that god. Please make sure you have thoroughly read background information on this world before writing your character's history. Again, we are looking for well-rounded, unique characters.

Your character's background may reflect this, for example:

  • A mining family, whose loyalty to the earth god allows them to discover precious minerals in otherwise barren lands

  • A dancer, who uses the power of the love god to draw patrons to her to earn money

  • A musician who uses the power of the arts god to find inspiration, and over time they become more uncertain whether they have talent, or its all the god's power that created their success

  • A person keeps having strange nightmares, so they pray to the moon god to ease them

  • A family of rulers, where it is tradition for the grandchild to inherit the monarch's blessed power, and usually the god is predictable and passes the power on, but something changed

(These are all ideas, please do not just take one of these and use it, it is preferred that you come up with your own!)

We prefer you build a character with the concept of this world in mind, rather than try to fit an existing character you have into this world. Consider how this world may operate, and given the basics of your character, what you would expect to happen to them throughout their life. The more you engage with the unique elements of the world (gods, magic, mixed with future tech), the better!

You are also welcome to have a public history and hidden history, to allow for your character to have secrets! You are required to share the secret history with the admins when applying, but you can reveal it however you wish during the story!

If you have any questions, particularly about what is/is not possible in this world, or would just like some guidance, do not hesitate to ask the admins in the discord server! We will respond as soon as we can ♡

Please include some kind of roleplay example, as well as information about your availability as a player. This includes:

  • timezone

  • availability to participate

  • other commitments (e.g. school, work, are you in a lot of other groups - this will help us to decide how elaborate to make events, and help us set expectations for player participation, as well as informing other players!)
